Stories of Reinvention

New Year, New Me.
New Year, New You.
But the reality is, more likely, New Year, same you and me.
As we pass the first week of January, maybe we entered the year with a lot of hope and gusto for change. Maybe we were ready to be Goalslayers or GirlBosses, maybe we watched a few Tony Robbins videos, and maybe we got our notebooks out and excitedly wrote down our goals for the year.
But then life happened.
-Maybe you woke up on Wednesday and had to make the same old commute you always make. There goes the staying calm goal.
-Maybe you got home on Friday, tired from the week, sat on the couch with a pint of Ben & Jerry's, and watched Keeping Up with the Kardashians. There goes the diet goal (and the exercise goal, and the "not watching garbage TV goal).
-Maybe Saturday morning, the kids were driving you crazy, so you yelled at them and made them play outside for the morning. There goes the make time for family goal (and the staying calm goal).
The funny thing about New Year's Resolutions is that, for better or worse, you are the same you that you have always been, regardless of the day of the year.
So, is real change impossible?
Of course not!
Reinvention and change takes a lot of work. It takes new goals, new mindsets, and a whole lot of bravery, but of course, it is possible.
Over the next few posts, we will look at people who reinvented themselves. Some who took complete 180s and changed everything. Others who might be best described as taking 50s and only changed a few things.
